Behind The Technology
The cabinet has a gloss black finish and is made from aerospace-grade aluminum. In the middle, you'll find GoldenEar's low-distortion HVFR™ (High Velocity Folded Ribbon) tweeter. It squeezes the air between the folds of a high-density diaphragm, rather than pushing air like a piston. This design helps the tweeter to maintain a wide dispersion pattern and have a smooth response all the way up to 35,000 Hz.
Flanking the tweeter are two 4-1/2" mid/bass woofers that output detailed sound thanks to the extra stiffness and rigidity of their cast baskets. The strong magnets used in their motor structure keeps their cone movement linear and clean. Each woofer has a proprietary MVPP (multi-vaned phase plug), which controls energy in the center of the drivers and minimizes cone diffraction, a form of distortion. Furthest out from the center are two 4"x7" passive radiators help to increase the overall bass response of the speaker.
A threaded insert lets you add GoldenEar's optional SuperSwivel brackets to hang the speaker. Or you can just use the keyhole slot to mount it flush to your wall. If you're going to place it on your TV stand, you can use the adjustable leveling feet on the back of the speaker to get the perfect angle.
